Privacy Policy

The short version

RemotusTV is a desktop app that turns your PC into a remote control for your Smart TV. It was built to respect your privacy: no account and no ads. Your pairings and settings are stored only on your own computer. The app sends us only what a licence needs to work, plus — if you allow it — optional usage statistics that you can turn off at any time.

Data stored on your device

To work, RemotusTV keeps some information locally on your PC, in the app's data folder — it never leaves your machine:

• TV pairing details (name, IP and MAC address, and the access token your TV issues).
• Your preferences: theme, accent color, language, remote layout and custom buttons/shortcuts.
• Automatic local backups of these settings, kept on your PC.
• Anything you export or import (themes, layouts, settings, pairings) is a file on your device that you control.

Licence data we receive (essential)

To keep your licence valid, the app sends our licensing service a small, always-on set of technical data. This is essential: its legal basis is performing our contract with you (LGPD Art. 7, V / GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)), so it is not based on consent and cannot be turned off while you use a licence. It does not identify you personally.

• A pseudonymous machine identifier — a hash of your device, not your name or e-mail.
• The app version, your operating system and the device label you set.
• When the licence last checked in, and its current status (free, active, expired).

Usage statistics (optional)

To understand how the app is used and decide what to build next, RemotusTV can send usage statistics. This is optional and only sent with your consent: it is on by default, but you can opt out at any time — on the welcome screen or in Settings → Privacy — and turning it off stops any further usage data being sent. It never carries your name, e-mail, network details or screen content.

For the free version and the Microsoft Store it is anonymous, tied only to the pseudonymous machine identifier above. If you bought Pro directly on this site, the same data is also linked to an opaque purchase reference (a support code, not your name or e-mail) — this makes it pseudonymous, letting us analyse usage per customer and help you with support. The legal basis for that link is our contract with you as a paying customer and our legitimate interest in improving the product, always under your telemetry consent.

• How often you open the app, and your active time in use (while the window is in focus).
• Number of sessions, and how many TVs you have paired.
• Which Pro features you tried on the free version, and which features you used on Pro.
• Technical context: app version, operating system, language, update channel, and whether the licence is free or Pro.

Local network access

RemotusTV communicates directly with your TV over your local network to send commands, check status and, optionally, power the TV on via Wake-on-LAN (which uses your TV's MAC address). This traffic stays on your network and is not sent to us.

Voice commands (optional)

If you choose to use voice control, the audio you record is sent to Google's online speech service to be transcribed into text, so the command can be understood. This only happens while you actively use the voice feature, which is off by default and marked as a beta. If you don't use it, no audio is ever sent anywhere.

This website

This website stores small preferences (your chosen theme and language) in your browser's local storage — this stays on your device. If we ever enable analytics, it will load only after you give consent, and this policy will be updated accordingly.

Purchases (Pro)

RemotusTV is free to use, with an optional Pro upgrade. Pro can be purchased inside the app through the Microsoft Store, or directly on this website. In both cases payment is processed by our payment provider — we never receive or store your card details. When you buy on this website we handle the license key and, when needed, your email to deliver it; we don't sell or share that data.

To activate Pro bought on this site, the app sends our licensing service your license key, a technical activation identifier, and your app version, operating system and language; after that, the license is verified on your PC and keeps working offline for day-to-day use, reconnecting to that service about every 15 days to revalidate automatically. We store the resulting signed license token locally on your machine — not your card number or the key on our servers. If you recover your key, we send your e-mail to that service, scoped to RemotusTV only.

Third parties

RemotusTV is independent and not affiliated with Samsung. Voice transcription is provided by Google when you use it. Payments are handled by the Microsoft Store or by our payment provider, whose own terms apply to the transaction.

Children

RemotusTV is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone.
